Doyall Dean Hartley of Chester, NE the son of Leslie (Bill) and Hazel (Degenhardt) Hartley was born November 17, 1936 in Hebron, NE. He departed this life Tuesday, October 5, 2021

at his residence in Chester with family at his side at the age of 84 years.

 

Doyall grew up in Chester, NE attending school and graduating from Chester High School with the class of 1954. He was so proud to be a part of his 1953 State Championship

Basketball Team, that was later inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame. After graduation, Doyall went to work in Lincoln, NE for a short time, but his love for the farm brought him back home

and he started farming with his dad. Doyall was always excited with how the crops were doing and he also raised cattle. Being out in God’s great creation was where he loved to be. Doyall went to work for Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron and Deshler, which he enjoyed very much.

 He was baptized February 11, 1961 and confirmed February 12, 1961 both at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron.

 

Doyall married Rogene Larsen March 12, 1961 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of one son Darren.

Doyall and Rogene enjoyed traveling together to Alaska, the Panama Canal and various other places. 

Doyall was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chester, NE, Trustee, and Cemetery Board. He took great pride in his church and was always eager to lend a helping hand

wherever it was needed. He was also a member of the Rural Fire Department. Doyall loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Beth Effenbeck, sister-in-law Nancy Larsen, and brother-in-law Max Gausman.

 

He is survived by his wife Rogene of Chester, NE, son Darren Hartley and fiance Kathleen of Lincoln, NE, sister Bert Gausman of Chester, NE, brothers-in-law; Alfred Effenbeck of

Deshler, NE and DeLoyd Larsen of Lincoln, NE, grandchildren; Oliviah Hartley-Eberspacher and husband Tyler of Lincoln, NE, Halston Hartley of Lincoln, NE, great-grandchildren Skylar,

Bo and Jet Eberspacher, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Doyall will forever be remembered as a caring, soft-spoken, and genuine man.

Funeral serives will be Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Chester, NE at 10:30 AM. Officiant will be Pastor Brian Faust, visitation will be Friday, October 8, 2021 from 2PM to 6PM at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron, Ne, pianist Howard Reed, congregational hymn “Amazing Grace”, recorded selection “If You Could See Me Now” and solo “The Lord's Prayer” sung by Jamie Luttrell, casket bearers; Halston Hartley, Tyler Eberspacher, Gill Mumm, Randy Flodman, Mick Gausman, Russ Gausman, Randy Gausman, Ken Effenbeck, and Randy Larsen. Honorary casket bearers; Jim Stelzer, Ray Wit, Larry Cook, Berwyn Petersen, Ronnie Mumm, Dick Templin, Don Templin, Elmer Holmes, Egbert Tietjen and Bill and Cindy Kroll. Interment will be at Chester Cemetery at Chester, NE. Memorials in care of the family. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron, NE is in charge of arrangements.
