Michael Duane Couch

Michael Duane Couch, 79, passed away on October3, 2021 in Arizona. He was born in Henry County, New Castle, Indiana on December 23, 1941 to Vernon and Betty Davis Couch. Michael grew up in Hagerstown, Indiana and graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1961. He married Nancy Miller Couch from Richmond, Indiana in 1962. They had three children before moving to Arizona in 1970. Michael is survived by his wife Nancy Couch and daughters, Lori Goverman Miner (Ken) and Lisa Smeltzer (Ian); his grandchildren, Joshua Goverman, Justin Goverman, Jennifer Goverman Binion (Mike), Jodi Goverman Turner and Robert W. Smeltzer. He also had 5 great-grandhcildren, Kaylee, Matthew, Trevor, Zander, and Addison; one sister Phyllis Lilly (Bishop Gene) of Melborne, FL., and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Duane “DC” Couch and his parents. Mike owned and operated several gas service stations in the Phoenix area. He owned and drove a sprint car, enjoyed racing, golf, off roading, boating, and time with his family. Service will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Sunwest Funeral Home 12525 NW Grand Ave., El Mirage, AZ 85335 with visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM followed by burial at 1:00 PM in West Resthaven Cemetery, 6450 W.
