Robert ”Bob” William Coombs, 81, went to be with the Lord September 30, 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona. Bob was born in Saginaw, Michigan on 12/26/1939, to Richard and Marion Coombs. He had one sister, Joann, and three brothers, Richard, Tom and Ken. In 1956, at the age of 17, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a Flight Crew Chief, stationed at Luke AFB in Arizona. When Bob’s Air Force service was over he decided to stay in Arizona. He met Jan, a young widow with a son, Brent, and they were married in August of 1969. Just out of the Air Force, Bob went to work at Sperry Flight Systems. After Sperry, Bob spent 10 years at KRUX radio, the #1 AM Rock station in the valley, working with legends like Pat McMahon and Al McCoy. From the late 70’s to the early 2000’s Bob worked at several different Audio/Visual businesses selling cutting edge technologies. Bob and Jan recently moved from their central Glendale home of over 50 years, to Sun City Arizona. Bob and Jan have been members of The Valley Cathedral since the early 1970’s. Bob will be remembered by all as a man who loved the Lord, his family and life. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Marion Coombs, brother Richard Coombs, Jr., sister Joann Bunker and brother Tom Coombs. He leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years Janet K. Coombs, son Brent W. Coombs and wife Paula, grandchildren Taylor Coombs McCullough (Ryan) and Joshua Coombs, brother Ken Coombs (Sally), as well as many other extended family members and friends. At this time per the family’s request no services will be held. Bob will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix, AZ.
