Helen M. Melert (Shroba)

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our mother on Oct. 4, 2021 at the age of 94.
Preceded in death by parents, Peter and Mary Shroba; brother, Bill Shroba; husband, Adam Melert; son, James Melert and grandson, Adam Alvarez; she will be missed by daughters, Janet (Zak) Zakraysek, Irene (Paul) Murphy and Mary Ann (Gregg) Dawkins; son, Robert; daughter-in-law, Joanna Melert; grandchildren, Amy (Daniel) Cormier, Allison (Mike) Swalley, Matt (Christy) Melert, James Murphy, Joe (Jenn) Murphy, Natalie Melert; 8 great grandchildren; and 17 step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her love for gardening came from growing up on a farm in West Richfield. Mom was a celebrated majorette in her teens. Then shortly thereafter she worked at Goodyear in the mailroom. It was there she met her husband Adam and spent the next 51 years together.
Mom enjoyed polka music, word search, puzzles, cooking, baking and watching General Hospital. She loved her family and would do anything for them.
She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

Calling hours will be 2-4pm Sunday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, Ohio 44321. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am Monday at Guardian Angels Catholic Church 1676 S. Cleveland Massillon Rd. Copley, Ohio 44321. The family suggests donations may be made to Dementia/Alzheimers Research or you may send flowers.
