Marla Miles

Marla Miles passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City, Nevada on Thursday, September 23, 2021. Marla was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon on August 1, 1939, and was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Miles and her son, John Bryan; by her mother, Margaret Lafreniere of Sunnyvale, California; her father Ronald McDaniel and stepmother Anita McDaniel of Klamath Falls, Oregon; her brother, Patrick Lafreniere of Dayton, Nevada, and her son-in-law, Elton Davies of Carson City, Nevada. Marla is survived by her daughter, Patricia Givens and husband James Givens, of Bend, Oregon; daughter Sharon Pinter of Martinez, California; and daughter, Kathleen Hasbrouck and husband Glenn Hasbrouck of Dayton, Nevada; granddaughter Karyn Pinter and grandson Ryan Pinter, both of Martinez, California; granddaughter Katherine Givens of Bend, Oregon; her brother Ken Lafreniere and wife Janeen Lafreniere of Folsom, California; brother Robert Lafreniere and wife Vicki Lafreniere of Sunnyvale, California; sister-in-law, Shirley Lafreniere of Dayton, Nevada, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Marla lived most of her life in the San Francisco Bay Area before moving to Carson City. She began working at Lockheed Missiles and Space in Sunnyvale, California after graduating from Fremont High School in Sunnyvale in 1957. She later worked at Operating Engineers, Local Union No. 3 in San Francisco, and as an administrative assistant at Liquid Air Corporation in Walnut Creek, California before her retirement. Marla was an accomplished artist who enjoyed books, music, history, sewing, and tending her beautiful garden. She was a member and past-president of the Nevada Artists Association in Carson City, and an avid supporter of The Comstock Foundation and the Jazz & Beyond Festival.
