Robert Lee Chivers

Bob was born July 27, 1937 in Roosevelt, Utah to Cecil and Angela Zager Chivers. He was raised up on the family ranch his grandfather homesteaded in the early 1900s. Bob attended local schools, graduated from Union High in 1955 then went to Utah State to study engineering. After 2 years Bob went to trade school in Chicago to study caterpillar and international heavy equipment maintenance and operation. This started Bob off into his future career and occupation, taking him all over the Western States. He spent the most part of 10 years in California working on major earthen projects; five major dams, the California Aqueduct, San Luis Canal and supporting projects, Interstate 80 and Interstate 5, along with Bay Area Rapid Transit. Mixed in at that time were many other earth moving jobs, subdivisions, shopping centers, streets, more canals and interstates. Any place dirt was moved, Bob was there.

In 1964, Bob married Joyce A. Fowers from Orem, Utah. They had one son, Lee, and later divorced.

In 1968, Bob moved to Tucson and later made it his home. He met the love of his life there, Carol Koch from La Cross, Wisconsin. Bob and Carol were married in 1971. The two were a pair, always working and doing things together. They both had the same likes and interests.

Over the years he was always involved with animals and ranching, which he shared with his parents until they retired and he acquired their interests. After he and Carol were married they bought a horse riding and boarding stable, what a zoo, until after they retired.

Bob raised everything from rabbits to emus and ostrich, sheep, goats, cows, horses, and even tilapia fish.

Bob and Carol kept working, Carol at the University of Arizona and Bob in construction. In 1980 Bob started his heavy equipment rental business which he managed and ran until they retired in 1995. They were both able to retire early and had over 15 years of great retirement time. Traveling with their fifth wheel they saw many great things, from visiting Carol’s two children and family in Florida, relatives in Wisconsin, friends and relatives from Florida to Seattle, all points in between, by way of Canada, Northern States and Alaska. Many said they traveled the “Chuckline”. Their travels were filled with wonderful visits, good friends and great food.

Along the way they managed to spend most of the summers at their ranch in Utah, working the garden and orchard, harvesting, canning and maintaining the old farm. They both thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sadly, Carol battled cancer for three years and on September 4, 2011, she lost the fight and went to live with her Father in Heaven, she got a better deal.

Bob managed to go to Utah every summer and do some traveling, still maintaining their property and home in Tucson most of the year.

Bob leaves behind his son, Lee (Jeri) Misdom, Kaci and Matt.
Two step children; Rita (David) Hellegers, Samuel and Hannah
David (Marina) Stone, Jonathan, Sonja and Marc Allen, nephews and many friends and extended relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, his parents and brother Kenny.

Bob and Carol will be buried together in Vernal, Utah.
