Kevin D. Williamson, 63, of Smyrna, Georgia and formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021, while holding his brother Marty’s hand. A graveside service for Kevin will be held at the Garwin-Union Cemetery on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. Kevin Williamson was born December 9, 1957 to parents Warren Sr. and Marjorie (Ruff) Williamson. He lived in Marshalltown until 1966 when he and his family moved to Smyrna. He graduated from Wills High School in the class of 1977. Following high school, Kevin enlisted in the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge. He worked as a journeyman carpenter. He loved to travel and was a member of the High Pointers Club. As a member, he had hit all the high points of each state in the United States, except for Alaska. He not only did the high points of the states, but also attempted to reach the high points of each county. He was able to complete all the high points in Georgia and several in Iowa. Kevin often took his nephews along for the adventure. He trekked across the United States going from Smyrna, Georgia to Marshalltown, Iowa by bicycle in the summer of 2009. He achieved the rank Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts as a teen. In his free time, he also enjoyed drag racing, watching YouTube and following various channels, and spending time with his family. Kevin took on the role of caretaker for his mother. This role was very important to him and he did an excellent job. Kevin always felt it was important to do the right thing. Left to remember and cherish his memory are his mother, Marge Williamson; his brothers: Warren (Carol) Williamson Jr. and Marty Williamson; his nephews: Bryan Williamson, Robbie (Nicole) Williamson and Jason (Leah) Williamson; his great-nephews: Bryson Williamson and Samuel Williamson; his great-nieces: Alexus Alston-Thompson, Haley Gooden, and Eden Williamson; and his great-great-niece, Kolbie Alston-Thompson. He was preceded in death by his father Warren Williamson Sr. and his niece Amanda Ellen Gooden.
