Yvonne Gail Copp

Yvonne G. Copp, 90, of Hawkeye, died Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Stoney Brook Village in West Union. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 8, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye with Rev. Ron Roberts officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Hawkeye Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church and for one hour preceding services at the Church on Friday. Memorials may be made to the family for later designation. Yvonne Gail, daughter of Leslie and Gladys (Harrington) Weston was born August 16, 1931, in Hazelton. She was baptized in the Methodist Church in Hazelton and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. Yvonne attended Stanley School, graduating as Valedictorian in 1949. Following high school, she received her teaching certificate from Upper Iowa University in Fayette. Yvonne taught school at Bethel #9, Windsor and Richfield. On August 17, 1952, she was united in marriage with Ronald Ray Copp at Trinity Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the Hawkeye and Fayette area for many years, retiring in 2004. Following retirement, the couple moved to West Union. Yvonne was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Women’s Circle. She enjoyed quilting, reading, Iowa Hawkeyes basketball, jig-saw puzzles at the Senior Meal Site and gardening. Yvonne is survived by two grandchildren, Tony (Irene) Langerman of Vigo, Spain and Erin (Greg) Opgenorth of Westminster, Colorado; great-granddaughter, Xela; son-in-law, Garold Stepan of Janesville, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in November of 2010; daughters, DeLois Ann Stepan in March of 1985 and Diane Rae Langerman in September of 1986; granddaughter, Emily Diane Stepan in March of 1985; two sisters, Lynelle Crane and Cheryl Stoddard; four brothers, Richard, Russell, Lyle, and Larry Weston; and son-in-law, Duane Langerman.
