Daniel Gordie Carter Obituary

Daniel Gordie Carter, 94, of East Palatka, passed from this life on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at his home following an extended illness. He was born in Alma, GA and had moved to Putnam County at the age of 8. Daniel had worked at Gustafson Dairy before beginning his career in logging. As a logger he had worked for Barnes Logging as well as Harry Roberson Logging. After retiring, he later worked for Middleton Farms in Elkton. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Hastings. In his leisure time, Daniel enjoyed fishing, feeding and watching wild turkey’s and spending time with family.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy M. Loadholtz, father, Walter Carter and mother, Nancy Elizabeth Carter and siblings, Orval, Jewel, Vernell, Jenny Lee and John L.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Kathleen Carter, children, John “Buddy” Carter (Danielle) and Gordon W. Carter, both of Hastings, Joseph D. Carter (Gail) of Elkton, Nancy Lands (Weldon) of East Palatka, and James “Bubba” Carter of Oglethorp, GA, grandson who was like a son, Charles Daniel “Bud” Carter (Julie) and their son, Clay Carter as well as 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 8, 2021, at Oak Hill West Cemetery in Palatka with Bro. Tommy Smith officiating. No public visitation is scheduled.
