Phyllis Mae Buck Livermore Falls, Maine Obituary

Phyllis Mae Buck

Vancleave, Mississippi – Phyllis Mae Buck, 96, passed away September 29th at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family in Vancleave, Mississippi. Phyllis, a former resident of Hartford, Maine, relocated to Vancleave to be close to her daughter after the loss of her loving-husband of 52 years in August of 2000. Phyllis was born in Livermore, Maine, on April 26, 1925 as a twin to Walter and Flora (Lee) Lovewell; she shared her birthdate with her brother, Raymond Lovewell. Phyllis was a 1943 graduate of Leavitt Institute of Turner Maine. After graduation, she attended Bates Business College of Auburn where she obtained her Degree in Business. She then worked as an accountant at Bates Mills, the Farm Bureau and Guy Knights Lumber Co of Livermore Falls until 1972. Phyllis met and married the love of her life, Arnold Buck, on September 27th, 1947; and Phyllis and Arnold raised three children: Raymond, Sheryl, and Donovan in Maine. Phyllis was an avid gardener and grew beautiful Dahlias at the family home. She enjoyed many crafts and baking. She was always cross-stitching and crocheting or baking breads and desserts for her loved ones. Phyllis looked forward to baking for family and friends for holidays and family get-togethers, and she loved to share these interests with her children and grandchildren. Through the years, she taught them how to make dinner rolls, her favorite desserts, peanut butter cookies, and so much more. Phyllis was a philanthropist and gave to many organizations throughout her life; while she never gave a lot, she always gave everyone something. This spoke about her kindness and character with compassion for others. Always giving. Always kind. Phyllis Buck stayed in contact with her family and friends until the very end. She valued her friendships and relationships and what it took to maintain them. Throughout the last few months of her life, she often shared how grateful she was to be loved by so many people and looked forward to spending time with her great-grandson, Greysen, who would visit and check on her daily to see how she was doing. Phyllis is predeceased by: her parents Walter and Flora, her sister Evelyn Morris, and her twin brother Raymond Lovewell. She is survived by her children: son Raymond Buck and wife Linda of New Sharon, Maine; daughter Sheryl Jackson and husband Irvin of Vancleave, Mississippi; and son Donovan Buck and wife Kim of Oakland, Maine. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kathy Buck Sweda, Adam Jackson, Laura Jackson, Christina Jackson, Sydney Buck Simpson, and her great- grandson, Greysen Jackson, and loving dog, Lily.
