Carolyn Munro Westville, Nova Scotia Obituary

Carolyn Munro

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Carolyn G. Munro, our loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, NS. Mom was surrounded by her family as she left us quietly and peacefully after a lengthy illness. She was in her 76th year. Our Mom was born in New Glasgow on February 4, 1945 to the late Earl and Pauline Johnson. Until the age of 14 years, she resided in Salmon River, Truro NS. Following the death of her parents, Mom and her sister Deanna, came to live with their Aunt and Uncle, Neil and Vivian Matheson, and their three children, in Lansdowne, Pictou County NS. Mom raised her three children in the community of Central West River and resided there for 45 years. She had a very successful career in sales with the Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation where she was Regional District Manager for 30 plus years. Mom had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She was also known for her style, creativity, fashion, and beauty. She had tremendous strength and perseverance through out her life and instilled those qualities in her children. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb, a traveller and adventurer, a talented knitter and mother to her many precious cats. Her greatest loves were her children and grandchildren. Carolyn is survived by her children, Paula (Colin) Fraser, Mt. Thom, Pictou County, NS; Mark, Guelph, ON, and Heather (Wayne) Jollimore, Dartmouth, NS; her grandchildren, Laughlin, Matheson and Liam Fraser, Nathan Zinck Jollimore, and Ptronda Munro; sister, Deanna Munro, Duncan, BC and nephew Paul West, Duncan, BC; special cousins, Chuck (Diane) Matheson, BC; Betty (Brian) Munroe, Abercrombie, NS, and Lorraine (John) Bruce, AB; sister-in-law and friend Sheila Kitchen (Bruce), Truro, NS and nieces Judy St. Angelo, St. Catherine’s, ON and Tanya Cameron, Milton, ON. Carolyn was predeceased by her parents Earl and Pauline Johnson; infant son Donald Earl Munro; aunt and uncle Neil Matheson and Vivian Matheson; mother and father-in-law Anne and Donald Munro. There will be no visitation A special thank you to the staff of Glen Haven Manor. Our Mom received excellent care, companionship, and love. For that we are very grateful. And when one of us is gone And one of us is left to carry on The remembering will have to do Our memories alone will get us through Think about the days, of me and you And you and me, against the world.
