<p><span style="font-size:14px;">Mary Elizabeth (n&eacute;e Dunstan) Witherow, of Remer, Minnesota passed away on September 29, 2021 at the age of 79. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">Mary was born May 5, 1942 in Ely, MN to Ernest Floyd and Ina Marie (n&eacute;e Hautala) Dunstan and raised in Ely, Minn.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">Mary is a graduate of Ely Memorial High School and briefly attended Ely Junior College before receiving her BS in Music Education at Bemidji&nbsp; State College.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">On August 15th, 1964 she married Tom Witherow at St. Anthony&rsquo;s Catholic Church, Ely, MN.&nbsp; Mary was a devoted wife and mother, while dedicating a 40 year career to public education. She taught music in schools throughout Minnesota and Iowa until her later years serving as a substitute and mentoring group home children.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">Mary had a strong belief in God with a deep underlying faith.&nbsp; She was a Church organist in the many towns they lived in as well as a private piano teacher to many.&nbsp; She retired in 2004.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">Mary was generous with her time and talents, always quilting and baking for family and friends.&nbsp; She loved the Minnesota air, enjoying the tall pines and tending to her flowers. When she wasn&rsquo;t outside she was playing her piano, reading mysteries, enjoying computer solitaire, crossword puzzles or having coffee and conversation at the local caf&eacute;.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Tom; daughter, Krista Witherow (Frankie) of Prescott, Az. and son, Kyle Witherow (Tracey) of Woodbury, Minn.;&nbsp;two grandchildren Claire and Cole Witherow; brother Richard Dunstan (Desi) of&nbsp;Ely,Minn. She is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Ina Dunstan;&nbsp;sister, Bonnie Jean;&nbsp;brothers James Dunstan and Arthur &ldquo;Skipper&rdquo; Dunstan.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in memory of Mary can be made to the Alzheimer&rsquo;s Association, Minnesota Chapter, 7900 W. 7th St., Suite 100, Edina, MN 55439; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><a href="http://www.alz.org/mnnd"><span style="font-size:14px;">www.alz.org/mnnd</span></a></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">Entrusted to O&rsquo;Halloran and Murphy Cremation and Funeral Services of Woodbury, MN.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
