Victor F. Marcozzi, Sr. Obituary

Victor Francis Marcozzi Sr.,  passed away in his home on September 26, 2021 in Laurel, DE at age 60.

Victor was born on January 12, 1961, in New Castle, DE, the middle child to his parents Francis (Sonny) and Sandra Marcozzi who preceded him in death. He often reminisced with his friends and loved ones about growing up on 13th Street in New Castle.

He graduated from William Penn High School Class of 1979. After high school, Victor joined the United States Coast Guard, followed by the National Guard where he served in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm. While in the Military, he studied Industrial Maintenance which he was employed as for the past 35 years.

Victor loved his hobbies of hunting and fishing, especially with his children and/or friends. He thought there was not a more peaceful place than sitting in a deer stand, even if he wasn’t there to hunt. He often said, “Sometimes the world feels like it’s closing in on me but it all opens up when I get into the woods where everything is still and quiet”. Victor's favorite animals to hunt were White Tail deer and Pintail ducks. He has many memorabilia of each spread throughout his home.

During the summer he and his children would set crab pots to catch the evening's meal. He loved eating crabs by the bushel and drinking beer while reminding you how crabs caught the day after a full moon were empty. He also enjoyed fishing the Delaware beaches with his children or just enjoying the hot summer days of the Eastern Shore.

Above all else he loved his kids and taught them how to hunt and fish from an early age. Anyone who knew him knew that he didn’t know the meaning of a “short conversation” and he was guaranteed to talk about his kids whether it was relevant to the conversation or not because he believed that no love ran deeper and to have pride in his children was to have pride in himself. Victor always wanted the best for his children so he pushed them to accelerate in college and/or their professions. He wanted them to value their lives and he worked many overtime hours to give them the best life possible.

Victor is survived by his daughter Ava Lee, his 3 sons Victor Francis II (Valerie), Ezekiel Joseph, and Gunnar James and two step-children, Michael Celli, Jr. (Madisin) and Rachel Deneau (Troy) as well as his older sister Marisa Ginevan (Wayne), his younger sister Kristina DeAscanis (David) and his niece and nephew Dante and Gianna DeAscanis. Additionally, Victor left behind his beloved Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Brandi, who is lost without her Master.

There will be a visitation at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5th and Harmony Streets, New Castle, DE 19720, on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 10:00am until 11:00am, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00am.  Burial of the cremated remains will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will not be a luncheon after the cemetery service.
