Ellis E. "Ed" Hahne Obituary

Ellis E. “Ed” Hahne, 85, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 25, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Ringman) Hahne. Born in Malden, MA, he was a son of the late Knut E. and Linnea E. (Hellman) Hahne of Sweden. Ed grew up in Warwick and served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He graduated from Upsala College in 1961 and worked in sales for a large oil company. He then became a general contractor running several of his own businesses. Lastly, he worked as a building inspector until his retirement in 1998. Ed was grateful for his spirituality including being a member of Salem Lutheran in Bridgeport, St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Charlestown, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sarasota. An avid golfer and ocean lover his entire life, he was a member of the Misty Creek Country Club in Florida and Westerly Yacht Club. Ed enjoyed being around people. He was President of the Cedar Cove Association in Sarasota, Florida as well as a member of the Harmony Lodge #9 in Cranston. Ed was a friend of Bill W for over 30 years. He had a strong passion for cars, especially his 1930 Ford Model A and auto racing. In addition to his wife, Barbara, Ed is survived by his loving son Eric E. Hahne and his wife Dana L. Hahne of Michigan, and was the devoted grandfather of Brett, Carson, and Linnea Hahne; also Adam and Matthew Greene (father Joe). Ed was predeceased by his daughter, Kristin B. Greene and sister Greta Ahlgren. His funeral will be held Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 11 am in St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 15 East Beach Road, Charlestown. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Warwick. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 15 East Beach Road, Charlestown, RI 02813, or, CureLGMD2i, 590 Centerville Road, #340, Lancaster, PA 17601 will be appreciated.
