   1939 – 2021

Glenn Cameron Russell, husband of Marilyn (Ellis) Russell, of Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on September 26, 2021 at the age of 82.

Born in Chatham on July 11, 1939, he was the son of the late Donald Cameron Russell and the late Venetia Katherine (Glendenning) Russell.  Glenn devoted his work life to teaching and the rest of his life to family and volunteerism.   He enjoyed much of his career teaching industrial arts at the junior high school level.  He was a tireless volunteer.  Glenn was an active member of the Newcastle Lions Club for over 50 years, and an active member of the Highland Society of New Brunswick at Miramichi for over 30 years, most notably serving more than 20 years as chairperson of its Scholarship Committee.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marilyn (Ellis) Russell; daughter, Suzanne Russell (Edward “Ted” Holden) of Antigonish, NS; grandchild, Theora Holden of Halifax, NS; sister, Donna Goodfellow (Vernon) of Point-Aux-Carr; brother, Leonard Russell (Glenna) of Kensington, PEI.  He also leaves behind sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law with whom he was very close, and 13 nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 1-4 PM.  A private Newcastle Lyons Club ceremony took place prior to the visitation.  A funeral service was held at Adams Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 2 PM with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight as Officiant.  Music for the service was provided by Lois McKinnon and members of St. Andrew's United Church Choir. Music included "In the Bulb There Is a Flower", and "Danny Boy".  Lighting of the Memory Candle was by Ted Holden.  Remembrances were given by Suzanne Russell.  A poem "Death is Nothing at All" was read by Theora Holden. The active pallbearers were: Theora Holden, Amy-Lynn Goodfellow, Nick Scully, Alexander Scully, John Russell and Troy Watt  Interment was in the Black River Community Cemetery.

Please be advised of NEW Government of New Brunswick requirements for mandatory masking in all indoor public spaces, and the requirement to provide proof of FULL vaccination, as well as proof of any medical exemption, and government issued ID for all those 12 and older upon entry for BOTH visitations and funerals.  Please consider the allocation of extra time required to register for services. To ensure this registration process flows smoothly, please have documents ready at the door upon arrival.  Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.
