Jean Alice Benton Obituary

Jean Alice Clark Benton went to be with her Lord on Nov. 5, 2016, in Hondo, TX. Jean was born and raised in San Antonio, where she met the love her life, James Benton, to whom she was married for over 50 years. Jean worked and excelled many years in the laboratory where she assisted in HIV testing and kidney transplant procedures. Her family was her everything. Her love and especially her laugh will be remembered by all who knew her. She was an active member in her church, New Fountain Methodist, and made it a point to try to make people smile. Jean spent her days seeing the world with James, spending precious time with family and friends, and helping whomever and whenever she could. Jean was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Our hearts are heavy with her loss but our spirits are lifted with the knowledge that she is in the presence of our Lord. She is preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Norman Clark and is survived by her loving husband, James Arlin Benton; her brother and his wife, Robert and Barbara Clark; her two sons and daughter-in-law, Chris Benton and Travis and Valerie Benton. Jean leaves behind four grandchildren, James, Savannah, Gwynne and Emily, and countless nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov 10, 6 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 11, 10 a.m. at New Fountain United Methodist Church, Hondo, followed by interment at New Fountain Cemetery. The family suggests memorials may be made to New Fountain Methodist Church Building Fund.
