Keyshona Renee McKeever

Keyshona departed this earthly life after a prolonged illness on September 24, 2021. She joined First African Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Clarence Williams at the age of 10. She was a graduate of the CHS Class of 1995. Her desire to help those whom she came into contact with exemplified Keyshona's beautiful personality. After relocating to Jacksonville, North Carolina, Keyshona joined the fellowship of Sandy Run Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Joel Churchwell. She became actively involved in the school activities of her son, Javen, and her daughter, Ajane. Her journey of demonstrating love continued throughout her employment at Coastal Carolina Internal Medicine, where she worked as the lead Certified Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist. After her first battle with her illness in 2016, Keyshona tried to return to work but was unable to continue. A decision was made to return home and be closer to family and begin a new start. She was a champion and did not complain about the agony and pain she experienced. She prayed and kept moving. Keyshona loved and honored the Lord, cherished her family, loved her church and appreciated all her friends. She loved basketball and football and couldn't wait to call her brother Tay to talk about the game and their favorite teams. Her love for her nieces, nephews, and "Daddy James" was very special. She was quick to defend "Daddy James" if she didn't like what you said or spoke unkind words about him. Her relationship with her mom was unbreakable, she often referred to her mother as the Rock. She had a close bond with two dear friends (classmates) Rashonda Smith and Lashoda Brunson, better known as the three musketeers. Her relationship with cousins Wanda B. Anderson, LaSonja Milton, Carrie Byrd, Demetri Byrd, Gardawn Stewart and Monica Mills was fruitful and rewarding. She loved her Pastor, Brandon Lewis and the entire church family. Keyshona was preceded in death by her grandfather, James Stewart; her grandmother, Shirley T. Reliford; and a stepbrother, Christopher Scott. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her son, Javen Garrison; her daughter, Ajane McKeever; an adopted daughter, Mahrtina Williams, whom she called "Muffin"; father and mother: James and Sandra Boggs and Ralph Scott; her brother, Deonta' Boggs and soon to be sister-in-law, LaQuanda S. Brown; a loving fiance', Melvin Benjamin; three stepdaughters: Kahbrena Benjamin, Skyla Bainer, and Zamya Poole; a stepgrandchild, Addison Valentine; her grandparents: Carlis and Minnie Platt; six half sisters and brothers: Ralph Scott, Jr., Meshia, Kimberly, Raven, and Alfonso Scott, and Yolanda Walker; a special son, Je'Quient Holmes; five adopted sisters: Adrienna R. James, Shkenya James, Angel Livingston, Sha'Quana Parker and Angelene Smith; two great aunts: Louise Wilkerson and Mary Goodwin; five aunts: Veronica (Chubby) Mills, Nancy (John) Cody, Betty Costic, Katie (Howard) McFadden, and Donna Johnson; five uncles: Donta (Telisha) Platt, Carolos (Subrina) Platt, Bobby Boggs, Willie (Shirley) Boggs and Johnnie Boggs; those affectionately known to her as Aunties and Uncles: Jerome and Pamela Livingston, Verna Joyce, Elizabeth Porter, Sarah Stanley, Rommie LIttles, Rose Thompson, Ronald "Duke" Smith, Carnell Kilcreek, Harry and Reba Zeigler and Mrs. Margaret Solomon, known as GIGI; the loves of her life, her nieces and nephews: Deonna, Deonta, Mya, Lyia, Faith, Kam, Noah, Cedirona, and Fihel; her chair buddy, Rev. Alvin Williams, and a host of other relatives, friends and loved ones.
