Eric M. Copps

Age 49

Died September 19, 2021 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, in Minneapolis, MN following an extended illness. Eric is survived by his parents Fred and Penny Copps; two brothers Mark (Heather) Copps, Minnetonka, MN and Brian Copps, Miami, FL.; two nephews, Benjamin and Will and one niece, Clara. Eric was born on April 26, 1972, the son of Fred and Penny Copps. Eric graduated from Pacelli High School in Stevens Point, WI in 1990 and the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN in 1994. He completed his graduate degree from the University of St. Thomas in Business Communications in 2009. He worked for Health Partners and Thomson Reuters in a number of roles but was most proud of his time with Outward Bound and then with Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) where he assisted in the newsroom and helped with music and entertainment events. Eric enjoyed photography and especially was fond of sunsets and nature. He also enjoyed creating unique chalk sketches of flowers and other various nature scenes. He attended many Packer and Badger games with his brothers, parents, nieces, nephews and friends over the years. Eric also had a love of music and could often be seen at lives shows around the Minneapolis/St Paul area. But Eric's true passion was spending time in the Boundary Waters with his closest friends. Eric was a best friend to so many. He always made sure everyone else's needs were met before his own. He will be missed more than he ever could have imagined. In his memory, please extend an act of kindness to another person. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Pollinator Friendly Alliance, for which he served as a Board member, (Stillwater, MN) or Operation Bootstrap (Stevens Point, WI). A small private mass and celebration is being planned by his family.
