Lucille Green Messel, 96, of Owensboro, Kentucky went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, November 12, 2015. She was born February 10, 1919 in Sebree, Kentucky to the late Herdy and Artie Mae Walker. She retired from Kentucky Electronics and the Daviess County School System. She was a member of Third Baptist Church and a longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She loved gardening, taking care of her home and family and playing and listening to music. Lucille was preceded in death by her first husband, David Leonard Green; second husband, Calvin Messel; by her son, David Lee Green; and a daughter, Anna Louise Green. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Paul Howson, Sr. of Owensboro; five grandchildren, David Green (Diane), Mark Green (Cathy), Jeff Green (Michelle), Lee McBrayer and Paul Howson, Jr. (Katie); 7 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Services are 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro, officiated by Dr. Dennis McFadden. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
