Barbara J. Schafer

Barbara J. Schafer (Walker) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the age of 89. Legacy Barbara was born in Bryn Mawr on May 15, 1932 and grew up in Bala Cynwood until she married and called King of Prussia home. She graduated from Lower Merion High School, class of 1950, where she played basketball, hockey & lacrosse. During the 1960’s she coached basketball at both Mother of Divine Providence & Arch Bishop John Carroll Schools. Her love of sports lead her to become a referee for lacrosse, basketball & hockey. She was an avid “cheerleader” for all of her favorite teams and especially loved cheering on her grandsons during their lacrosse games at Princeton, where she became a stadium staple. Eagles football and Villanova basketball were her favorite to watch as well. She loved many things, such as going to Sea Isle with her family, leaves changing during September and going to the casinos, she truly lived a full life. After her late husband, Daniel, passed away, she started working at Fox Differ Callahan Law Firm in Norristown, where she became the office manager. She retired after many years of faithful service. Family Beloved wife of the late Daniel N. Schafer; loving mother of Daniel Schafer, Nancy Schafer, Barbara Jungers (David), Susan Leonard (Richard) and the late Tommy Schafer; dear sister of the late Ann “Nancy”, Frances & Audrey; cherished grandmother of eight and great grandmother of eight. Her granddaughter Jill will never forget all the years spent with her “Best Friend” and will carry on her legacy. Farewell Tribute Family & friends are invited to gather at St. Clair of Assisi Parish at St. Michaels RC Church (313 Memorial Avenue, Gibbstown) on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
