John A. Rathbun

John A. Rathbun, 68, of Pontiac, IL, passed away on September 25, 2021 at 3:15am at his home, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be at 3pm at Calvert Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac, IL on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Visitation will begin 2 hours prior to the services also at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services Memorial’s in honor of John may be made to the family. Calvert Memorial Home in Pontiac, IL is in charge of arrangements. John was born in Sterling, IL on December 30, 1952. He was the son of Fredrick “Smokey” and Laverne (Carpenter) Rathbun. He married Susan Koenig on November 24, 1972 at Salvation Army Church in Pontiac, IL. She survives in Pontiac, IL. He is also survived by his children, Michelle (Frank Thompson) Rathbun of Pontiac, Joleen (Bob) Bolen of Odell; grandchildren, Kylie Hinshaw, Ashleigh Hinshaw, Taylor Hinshaw, Carson Rathbun, Briar Bolen, Junior Bolen, Daphne Bolen; brothers and sisters, Fred (Lois) Rathbun of Joliet, Donnie (Nancy) Rathbun of Olathe, Kansas, Wanda (Dan) Thornton of Wisconsin, Debbie (Chuck) Graves of Joliet, Cindy Rathbun of Peoria, Jim Dale Rathbun of Peoria; many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Linda Mathis. He worked over the years at Interlake in Pontiac, IL, as a machine operator. John was an avid football, baseball and racing fan he enjoyed watching his favorites the Minnesota Vikings and Dale Earnhardt Sr. and the St. Louis Cardinals.
