Eva Evelyn Meader, 89, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 23, 2021. She was born on June 13, 1932, near Edgewood the daughter of Gerald and Eva (Shaw) Everett.  Evelyn was raised and educated in the Edgewood area, graduating from Edgewood High School.

On June 29, 1951, Evelyn was united in marriage to Harley Dean Meader at Francis E. Warren Airforce Base in Cheyenne Wyoming.  They shared 59 wonderful years together. Five daughters and one son were blessed to this union. Evelyn and Dean enjoyed square dancing for many years.

Evelyn was a wonderful wife and loving mother and grandmother.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for many years. Evelyn was also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of Greeley and a circle member of the United Methodist Church in Greeley.  She loved to sing in her younger years, enjoyed camping and going to Mt. Pleasant to the Old Threshers Reunion.  Evelyn loved spending time with her family and her puppies, Amy and Sissie. Her strong faith and zest for life helped her through her health issues and gave her more quality time with her family. One of Evelyn’s greatest joys was spending time with her girls.

Survivors include her five daughters, Shelley (Jack) Ortberg of Manchester, Starla (Jerry) Greenslade of Cresco, Lyneva (Duane) Bockenstedt of Greeley, Kimberly (Larry) Rouse of Newhall, and Carmen (Dan) Cooke of Strawberry Point; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and one on the way; one sister-in-law, Audrey Cuda; and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harley “Dean” in 2010; her son, Brian Francois Meader; her grandson, Michael Dean Ortberg; a special son-in-law, Vern Meyer, two sisters, Verla Horner and Geraldine Wilcox; three brothers, Fred Everett, Edwin Everett and Robert Everett.

Because of COVID-19, masks are strongly recommended at the funeral home.
