<p>Collins,</p> <p>Mr. Cecil Julius McMurtry, age 82, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his family and under the care of Bethany Hospice. He was born in New Mexico on December 29, 1938 and had lived in California for many years before moving to Collins in 1987. He was a self-employed painter that took pride in his work. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his yards. Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, Charles, and Cynthia McMurtry; his wife of 38 years, Linda Cathcart; and his siblings, Jim, Charlie, Patrick, Donna, and Ellen McMurtry.</p> <p>He is survived by his children, Paula Ricks, Sandra Cathcart both of Collins, Shannon Benefield of Arkansas, and Christie; siblings, Lucille McMurtry, Judy Clark, Christine Lewis, Marie McMurtry all of California and Doug (Ann) McMurtry of Collins; 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Funeral services will be announced by the family.</p> <p>Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the McMurtry family.</p>Obituary
