Lorena Johanna Furlong Purvis, 84, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, September 23rd, 2021, at her residence. Mrs. Purvis was born on December 31st, 1936, to William Edward and Lorena Belle Crouch Furlong. Mrs. Purvis is survived by her husband Donald Purvis; fur baby Rudy ; children Donnie Purvis (Lisa); Dona Givens (Will), Rachel Grady (Tom), and Theresa Capace (Bob); ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Rachel Peery, Jan Leachman, Frances Chavez (Carlos), Toni (Polly) Teresi; brother-in-law Buddy Purvis (Laura). Preceded in death by her parents William and Lorena Furlong. Funeral Mass for Mrs. Purvis will be Thursday, September 30th, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Athens, AL. Burial is at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico on October 11th, 2021, at 12:45 p.m. Mrs. Purvis loved nursing and adored her puppies. She was retired from the United States Air Force. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
