Brecken Kenneth Hills

Brecken Kenneth Hills 74, of Upper Tantallon, died peacefully at home with his loving family by his side, September 22, 2021. He is survived by his wife Linda; Brothers, Donald and Albert (Ginny); Sister, Bertha Slaunwhite (Ken); Sons, Kenneth (Natalie) and David (Heidi) and daughter, Kelley Franklin (Freddie); Grandchildren, Maverick, Dawson, Jacob, Katie and Abbi; Step-grandchildren Kyle and Megan Rector. Predeceased by parents Roland and Ada (Smith) and his sister, Joan (Perry). Brecken worked as an Elevator Constructor for more than 35 years starting in 1970. During his career he spent 10 of these years working as the I.U.E.C Local 125 President. An avid fastball and hockey player, Brecken spent many years playing for the Tantallon Centennial Athletic club and playing and coaching the Tantallon Buzzards in the gentlemen’s league at the St Margaret’s Center. He also coached minor and provincial fastball for Tantallon and St Margaret’s Bay and hockey for TASA minor hockey. In later years he loved playing competitive horseshoes with the guys at the ballfield. Brecken was a lifetime member of the Lion’s Club and will be remembered for his fund-raising and support of community events. He loved travelling and camping and spent many nights entertaining the crowd around the campfire with his guitar. Brecken helped with fund-raising and the building of the St Margaret’s center and later served on the board of directors. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Service of committal will be at St Margaret’s Anglican church in Tantallon on Monday, September 27th at 1pm. All welcome to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your charity of choice. Due to covid protocols, masks required.
