Darrell G. Anderson, 94 of Saginaw passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at his son Craig and daughter-in-law Karen's home in Saginaw where he had lived the past four months. He was born on December 18, 1926 in Henning, Minnesota to Alfred and Edna (Kuivinen) Anderson. He went thru 8th grade in a one room school house in Almora, Minnesota. Darrell served in WWII as an Army Sergeant. On November 20, 1948 he married Marlene Johnson and they made their home in Saginaw and raised four children. He was a very busy man. He went to school for refrigeration, owned a Drive-In in Duluth with Marlene, sold vacuum cleaners door to door and was a car salesman for West Arrow Chevrolet in West Duluth. Years prior to retiring at age 50, he and Marlene owned Saginaw Auto and Mobile Home Sales in Saginaw. After retiring he spent many years bowling, up to three days a week, until age 92 and held averages up in the 170s and 180s. Darrell and Marlene also spent about 10 years in Ft. Myers Florida every winter. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 70 years, Marlene; brothers, Douglas and Oliver (Violet); sisters, Joyce Anderson, Romayne (Norman) Bjonskaas, Ruby (Harold) Roland and Vina Roland; grandsons, Timothy Stoddard and Zachary Kubis; and sons-in-law, Tom Stoddard and Eddie Thompson. Darrell will be sadly missed by his daughters, Fay (Tim) Haluptzok of Carlton and Cheri Thompson of Saginaw; sons, Craig (Karen) Anderson of Saginaw and Dale (Debbie) Anderson of Cloquet; sister-in-law, Joyce Anderson of Washington; brothers-in-law, Melvin Roland of Duluth and Irving and Harlan Johnson of Duluth; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and one on the way; five step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; 11 step great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the workers at Carlton Place in Carlton and St. Croix Hospice for the care they gave to our Dad. Due to the resurgence of COVID Private family services will be held.
