Merica Jane Tessman, age 85, Baxter Springs, KS, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2021. She was born on November 18, 1935 in Chesapeake, Ohio, to the late Frank Marion Few and Bessie Inez Benson Few. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harrison Few and Leon Few; four sisters, Patsy Chadd, Martha Green, Georgina Flinn and Shirley Stump; one daughter in law Terri Tessman; and a son in law Henry Flinn. Merica married John Tessman in 1950 in Belen, New Mexico, he preceded her in death in 1989. She worked a binder for printing companies. Merica is survived by three sons, John Tessman, Michael Tessman and wife Melinda, both of Baxter Springs and Anthony Tessman and wife Barbara of Belen, New Mexico; one daughter, Sherry Flinn, Baxter Springs; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; her furry companion precious. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Derfelt Funeral Home Baxter Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Pence Cemetery, Baxter Springs, KS. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to The Children’s Miracle Network and maybe left in care of the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Derfelt Funeral Home Baxter Chapel.
