BAXTER-Lllewelleyn Ellert, 70 of Cookeville died Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Her wishes of cremation are being honored. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 9 at 1 PM at Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Owens officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 AM until service time at the funeral home. She was born July 8, 1951 in Suffern, New York to the late Leroy and Bertha Wright Van Dunk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 daughters Wenonah DeGroat, Shawn Martinez and Chenna Spivey, son-in-law Mickey James and a brother-in-law Lewis Dennison, Sr. She was a homemaker and of the Presbyterian faith. She enjoyed crocheting and watching Gunsmoke on TV. Llewelleyn mostly enjoyed being with family and friends. Survivors include daughters Halonna "Holly" James of Baxter, Michelle DeGroat of North Carolina, sons Michael DeGroat, Jr., Micah DeGroat and Merle DeGroat all of Cookeville, sisters Brenda Dennison and Marsha (Jimmy) Bryant, brother Joseph (Dominque) Wright all of Georgia, 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the funeral expenses. Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (931)858-2134.
