Gary M. Yaris, of Chatham, died at 6:15 a.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. Gary was born in Springfield, the son of E. Mitchell and Wilma Audrey (Summers) Yaris. He married Patty Starling-Kick on February 14, 1981 in Springfield. Gary served his country in the United States Navy for 6 years. He attended four years of apprenticeship school for elevator construction. For 31 years, he was employed with the National Elevator Industry. He was preceded in death by his son, Bill Yaris, and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Patty Yaris of Springfield; two sons, Andy (wife, Cindy) Yaris of Lake Petersburg, IL and Matthew (wife, Aleli) Kick of Palm City, FL; two daughters, Angie (companion, Bill Hundley) Rowden of Springfield and Angela (husband, Mike) Wilson of Auburn; four granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and one sister, Sandra King of Springfield. Gary loved to fish and hunt at Petersburg when he wasn’t watching NASCAR races! The family suggests casual attire- no ties required. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings. Funeral Ceremony: 11:30 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham with Pastor Josh Mangano officiating. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Auburn Christian Church, 118 Apache Dr., Auburn, IL 62615.
