Obituary

Lidia Luna Limas de Madrid was born in Cinco de Mayo in the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico on June 14, 1936, the 6th child of 8 born to Jose Telesforo Luna and Josefa Limas. Lidia emigrated to the USA from Mexico, when she was 24, with her husband and three children. Three more children were born to the couple, and they raised their six children in New York in both Yonkers and the Bronx. Due to the strong conservative values espoused by Lidia and Alfonso all six children thrived and went on to complete university and post-graduate degrees. Lidia was a strong, courageous, and loving parent who instilled in her children the will to succeed. She had a can-do attitude that rubbed off on her children and projected them into successful lives that embraced a strong work ethic and a value system founded on doing good towards others. Always willing to engage in fun activities and could fill the house with laughter and energy. She is survived by her: husband of 68 years, Alfonso Madrid; sisters, Lulu Luna de Gonzalez and Lelia Luna Limas; and children; Smyrna Madrid Bailey, Dina Madrid, Gabriel Madrid, Daniel Madrid, Martha Madrid Kleeman, and Ruth Madrid Comley. Lidia leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her: parents; two sisters who died in infancy, brother, Leonel Luna Limas; and sisters, Leyla Luna de Villarreal and Loyda Luna de Garduno. Her entire family will miss her dearly and her memory will live on in our hearts until we meet again at the coming of Jesus, our Lord, and Savior.
