John Charles Litchfield

John Charles Litchfield, 86 of Lake Forest, IL passed away on September 16, 2021. John was born in 1935 in Washington, DC to Charles and Dorothy (nee Williams) Litchfield. After graduating from the University of Maryland, John spent his career working for the phone company, first for AT&T and then Ameritech. John and his family lived in Glen Rock, NJ for many years, and then settled in Lake Forest, IL. In retirement, he was involved with the Lake Forest Plan Commission, the Lake Forest Career Center and the First Presbyterian Church. Outside of work and his community involvement, John was an avid artist, woodworker, and gardener. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed spreading mischief. John is survived by his loving wife Anne (nee Havard); his loving children John (Kathleen) Litchfield and Aline (Tom) Shapiro; five loving grandchildren and his loving brother Gary Litchfield. He was preceded in death by his daughter Anna Litchfield and his parents. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 24 at 1 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 700 N. Sheridan Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045. He will be placed in First Presbyterian Church's Memorial Garden where his urn will be placed next to his daughter Anna. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Scholarship Fund at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
