James Alexander Vaughan, Jr.

Mt. Pleasant: James Alexander Vaughan, Jr., husband of Eileen McGuire Vaughan of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Quimper, France died Tuesday, April 4, 2006. Mr. Vaughan was born March 20, 1938, son of the late Celina McGregor and James Alexander Vaughan. He was a graduate of Dreher High School, Columbia, SC (Class of 1956), and the 1960 valedictorian at The University of the South, Sewanee. He was a member of ATO, ODK and Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Vaughan was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Dijon, France and a Woodrow Wilson scholar at Harvard and Duke Universities. He received a Masters degree from Duke University and taught at USC. He was the editor of the South Carolina Magazine and Personnel and Public Relations director at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina. He started a Communications program at the Naval Shipyard under the auspices of Trident Technical College. He was a member of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul. Surviving are his beloved wife, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two sons, James Alexander Vaughan, III (Elizabeth) of CT and Edward Brandon Vaughan of France, two grandchildren, Charlotte and James, and his sister, Mrs. Arthur Madden (Lillian Brandon Vaughan). Funeral services will be held at All Saints Church, Waccamaw at Pawleys Island, SC, Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, 3870 Leeds Avenue, Suite 101, North Charleston, SC 29405 or the charity of one's choice. ARRANGEMENTS BY J.
