Freddie D. Fowler, age 84, of Hillsdale, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2021, at his home. He was born October 11, 1936, in Hillsdale to Charles and Myrna (Burger) Fowler. Freddie married Shirley A. Smith on May 11, 1963, and she survives. Freddie graduated from Hillsdale High School. In recent years he served 16 years as the Zoning Administrator and Adams Township Supervisor and helped to establish the Township Hall building. For many years Fred was in the trades, earlier years being the owner of Fowler and Sons Plumbing and Heating, later years he worked as a general contractor/ builder in Hillsdale County and surrounding areas. Fred also was a realtor and co-broker with his wife Shirley of Fowler Real-Estate. In previous years he was a member of the Knights of Pythias and Hillsdale Four-Wheeler Club. Also, he was a police officer and custom tree trimmer. For all of his life Fred was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife of 58 years, Shirley A. Fowler, Freddie is survived by six children, Debbie McDermott of East Jordan, Kathy Aube of Hillsdale, Randy Fowler of Hillsdale, Rhonda Fowler of Phoenix, Arizona, Colleen (Marlin) Kyser of Ludington and Bruce (Michelle) Fowler of Reading; daughter-in-law, Tami Fowler of Maumee, Ohio; 105 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Jan Morris of Magnolia, Texas and one brother, Dave (Jan) Fowler of Reading. Freddie was preceded in death by his parents and two children, Pam Fowler and Harold Fowler. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life for Freddie Fowler on Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 2:00-4:00PM at the Adams Township Hall in North Adams. Arrangements are entrusted to VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale. Memorial contributions are suggested to Greater Hillsdale Humane Society.
