Doris Elaine Piserchia, 92, of Eatontown, passed away September 15, 2021 surrounded by loved ones at Jersey Shore Medical Center. She was born in Fairmont, WV to Dewey and Viola (Crihfield) Summers.

Doris honorably served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Fairmont State University and worked towards her master’s degree. Doris was very athletic and an Olympic qualifying diver. As a US Army officer's wife, she traveled the world with her family. In addition to caring for her family, Doris was a published author of thirteen science fiction novels and multiple short stories.

Doris was predeceased by her parents, siblings, her daughter, Linda Giokas in 1984 and her loving husband, Joseph Piserchia in 1997.

Doris is survived by her children and spouses; John and Ellen Piserchia, James and Lauren Piserchia, Dewey and Mary Piserchia, Patricia and Harry Louth and Christina Zirrillo. She is also survived by her grandchildren and spouses; Joseph and Barbara Phipps, Robert and Deki Piserchia, Jacob and Courtney Phipps, Daniel Piserchia, Nicholas Piserchia, Jennifer Piserchia and Catherine Zirrillo.
She is also survived by her great granddaughter, Olivia Phipps.

Doris will be remembered as an animal lover and a generous, strong woman who defined perseverance and put her family above everything, including herself.

All services will be private. The family requests any donations in Doris’ memory be made to the Monmouth County SPCA.
