Mark Robert McClain… was born on November 22, 1962 to Robert and Shirley (Karolczak) McClain in Marshall, Minnesota where he was raised and attended school. He was confirmed at Holy Redeemer Church in Marshall in 1980. After his graduation from Marshall High School in 1981, he attended Alexandria Vo-Tech in Alexandria, Minnesota. In 1983, he graduated from there with a degree in Computer Operations. Later, he moved to Rockford, Illinois where he was a computer specialist at an insurance company. Mark was married to Victoria Wells on September 3, 2005 in Chicago, Illinois. Following their marriage, they resided in Rockford, Illinois until moving to Cottonwood, Minnesota in 2006. From 2013-2015 he attended school at Minnesota West in Granite Falls, Minnesota to update his computer skills. He also helped the staff with students when he was there. Then, in 2019 they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota. On August 18, 2021 he was diagnosed with liver cancer. He came home for a short time and he was admitted to the Pipestone County Hospice House where he died on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the age of 58 years, eight months and 28 days. Mark liked to go geocaching and liked to do it in different areas when he visited them. He loved to fish, work on computers, and go to the casino!. He enjoyed travelling and especially liked to visit his grandchildren. Some of his favorite places to go were Duluth, Gooseberry Falls, and to the candy shops in Duluth and Shakopee to stock up on chocolate. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Victoria McClain of Pipestone, Minnesota; daughter, Cathryn Johnson of Cottonwood, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Jonovyn Dietrich, Aidyn Johnson, and Bastiyn Johnson; two siblings, Ann Bergstrom of Coon Rapids, Minnesota and Carol (Justin) Ellis of Yankton, South Dakota; aunts and uncles, Dave and Sue Karolczak, Roger and Karen Brogaard, Bev McClain, Mike and Diane McClain, Rick McClain, and Judy and Dennis Eischens; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Shirley McClain; one uncle, Jerry McClain; and grandparents, Frank and Dorothy Karolczak and Howard Jacob and Dorothy McClain. *****Mark’s celebration will be held potluck style so if you would like to bring some food or a snack to share you may. Water and coffee will be provided by the family. Other beverages may be brought by individuals if they so choose.*****
