Varonica Ruth Ragan Obituary

Varonica Ruth Ragan, of Rolla, MO, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at the age of 81. She was born on March 31, 1940 in Rolla to the late Herman Adam and M. Pauline (Wylie) Adam. On July 3, 1957 she married William “Ed” Ragan in Rolla. He preceded her in death in August of 1995. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her life partner, Billie Garner; a sister, Charlotte Bates and one brother, Steven Adam. Varonica was born the eldest of nine children. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She loved without limits. Her greatest pleasures in life came from sharing joy with her family and friends. She inspired all of us to be better at giving and forgiveness. She had a talent for embracing what makes all of us unique. Throughout her life, Varonica was known for her energy and excitement for living. Triumphs for her family and friends were also her successes. Alternately, she was a constant pillar of strength in times of hardship. She enjoyed gardening, feeding many animals, a good romance novel, and above all else, spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandchildren. Varonica found it very fulfilling to give generously of her time and energy volunteering for organizations such as the Silver Eagles, Phelps Health and others. Her work career consisted of many years as a tax consultant for H&R Block, Rolla City Clerk, and most recently as election judge and bookkeeper for multiple small businesses within the community. Varonica leaves a lasting legacy of family and love. Her strength and gentleness touched all of us who knew and loved her. May she forever rest in peace as God’s latest angel. Varonica will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes: two sons, Laverne E. Ragan and Roland D. Ragan and wife, Janet, all of Rolla; one daughter, Melinda Cochran and husband, Steve of Rolla, four brothers, David Adam of Rolla, Marvin Adam and wife, Carol of Rolla, Jerry Adam and wife, Gloria of Ava, MO, and Randy Adam and partner, Del Nichelson of Rolla; two sisters, Cindy Shults and Melody Glick and husband, Cecil, all of Rolla; a sister-in-law, Donna Adam of Rolla, three grandchildren, Talon Cochran, Tanner Ragan and Hailey Ragan and two great grandchildren, Kennadi Cochran and Conner Cochran. A funeral service for Varonica R. Ragan will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla.
