Celebration of Life Services for Oscar Rivera, 78, a long-time Hereford resident, will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday September 21, 2021 at Parkside Chapel. Family and friends will officiate. Cremation services are under the personal supervision of Parkside Chapel Funeral Directors. Mr. Rivera passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021. Oscar Rivera, born January 13, 1943 to Luz and Josefina (Ortiz) Rivera in La Villa, Texas. He attended schools in Santa Rosa, Texas and graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1962. While in High School, Oscar played Football and Basketball. He loved sports of all kinds. He came to Hereford as a farm laborer and worked on several farms in the area. Mr. Rivera also worked for Joe Soliz Masonry for several years. He was a wonderful Father and Grandfather, very loving and caring. He was loved by all who knew him. He was a hard worker, loved to cruise around Hereford. Oscar was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Oscar’s legacy are his wife Ermenia Rivera of Hereford, two daughters, Mary Rivera of Austin, Texas and Lisa Rivera of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Elias Rivera, Jr., Mario Rivera, Isaiah Rivera, Jessie Munoz-Orosco, and Vanessa Munoz; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ovilla Cavzos, Olga Hernandez, Lydia Aguilar, and Ofelia Rivera, three brothers, Onesimo Rivera, Gilberto Rivera, and Santos Rivera. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents and various family members.
