Gerald Edward Mahoney, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at his home in Swanton, Vermont. Jerry was born on November 13, 1936, to Walter and Agnes (Kilpeck) Mahoney.  

An Air Force veteran, upon return home Jerry married his sweetheart Mary C. Delorme from Rutland, Vermont, on March 31,1962 at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Burlington, Vermont. Together they raised their children Michael and Donna in Jericho, Vermont.

Jerry was employed by McKenzie in Burlington, Vermont for many years.

Gerald is survived by his son Michael E Mahoney (wife Jacinthe Mathieu) of Essex, Vermont and their children Sean Mahoney and Briege Mahoney both of Essex, Vermont; his daughter Donna Ries (companion Scott Laramee) of Colchester, Vermont and her children James Ries, Daniel Ries and Melinda Ries; and great-grandchildren Riley and Adley Ries.

He is also survived by his sister Maureen Phillips (husband Edward), sister-in-law Susan Delorme (husband Gary Gilmore), sisters-in-law Marilyn, Betty and Joan Mahoney; many nieces and nephews as well as life long friends Lois and Guy Kittell.

He was predeceased by his brothers Robert, Thomas and Richard Mahoney and sister Isabel Parent (husband Thomas).

Jerry was proud of his 100% Irish roots making several trips to Ireland.  A true native Vermonter he was always helping his neighbors.  Mary and Jerry went on many excursions near and far to Europe, Hawaii, Nova Scotia, and spent winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Driving around Vermont or anywhere always made him happy.

A Catholic Mass will be held at St.Pius X Catholic Church, 20 Jericho Road, Essex, Vermont, on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 3:00pm.  A gathering will be downstairs in the church following Mass.  Interment will be at a later date
