Brian Hemmelgarn Obituary

Brian Hemmelgarn, 65, of Seymour, IN passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN. Born on July 31, 1956, in Louisville, KY, Brian was the son of the late Donald and surviving Shirley Hemmelgarn. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy “Dottie” (Spivey) Hemmelgarn, to whom he was married from August 7, 1981 until her death February 27, 1993. Lucky enough to find two great loves in his life, Brian married Deborah “Debbie” (Kimbley-Mullins) Hemmelgarn on November 25, 1995. Brian lived a rich life. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour, IN, the CFO of Banquet Tables in Louisville, KY, and an avid University of Louisville fan. He loved racing and enjoyed his time working at Kimmel race shop in Clarksville, IN. Brian was also known for his diverse small business ventures, ranging from accounting to birdhouses. But his greatest love of all was for his grandchildren. He loved each and every one of them to pieces. Brian leaves behind: wife, Debbie Hemmelgarn of Seymour, IN; mother, Shirley Hemmelgarn of Louisville, KY; three daughters, Lindsay (Todd) Hooker of Henryville, IN, Jena (Quinn) Hudson of Bloomington, IN, and Victoria (Andy) Vires of Oceanside, CA; brother, Gary (Patty) Hemmelgarn; three sisters, Joyce (Tom) Frewen, Donna Holmes, and Linda Richards; and his six grandchildren, Hayden and Aubrey Hooker, Finley and Archer Hudson, and Presley and Henry Vires. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Friday, September 24, 2021 at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, IN with Pastor Dan DeFriece officiating. Visitation: 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, September 23, 2021 and after 10:00 am Friday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment at Zoah Cemetery in Scottsburg, IN.
