Judith Ann Osborne Jackson, Michigan Obituary

Judith Ann Osborne

Judith Ann Osborne of Jackson, Michigan passed away on September 7, 2021 at home surrounded by family. She was born on November 8, 1939, in Ferndale, Michigan to H. Nelson and Ruth (Frank) Fry. She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Emily Smith. She was loved and is being missed by her husband, Arthur Osborne, and by her three children and their spouses, Matthew (Judy) Osborne, Rene’, (Chuck) Smith, Karen (Lennard) Johnson, her grandchildren, Scott (Sarah) Osborne, Travis (Abbie) Osborne, Caleb Smith, Zachary Smith, Grace (Hank) Stoner, Nathan Johnson and Laura (Evan) Brugger, and her great grandchildren, Hezekiah, Judah, Asher, Ezra, and Maisie Osborne, Archer Osborne, and Everett and Marlowe Stoner; and her siblings Carolyn (Paul) Yarger, Vernon (Janet) Fry, Harvey (Barbara) Fry, Beverley (Carl) Lamoreaux and numerous nieces, nephews and their offspring. Faith and Family are two words that describe her well. Before her 4-year cancer journey began, if the church doors were open, she was there, and continued to serve well into her fight. Frankly, she had more strength and energy than many of us who were younger by a generation. Over the years she was a member of the choir, Hospitality Committee and other committees. She was a long-term volunteer in the nursery (42 years), was a regular member of the weekly Prayer Force, Women’s Bible study, and WMI (Women’s Ministry International). She and Art served as Youth Directors for well over a dozen years and inaugurated and hosted the annual garage sale youth group fundraiser at their home. She was also the “self-appointed,” laundress for the nursery and kitchen. As the oldest of five she exhibited the leadership/bossiness that often comes with that role. She lived out her faith at home in front of her family as a prayer warrior and regularly shared specific verses from the Bible that she had selected for her family and memorized…regularly praying those verses for them. When her kids were still living at home, mealtimes were critical to her as family time…even when that meant slamming down a home cooked meal between school and practices or games. That continued in the future as she hosted the growing family and often their friends, nearly every Sunday for decades, right up until the Sunday before she passed. She loved Christmas, the whiter the better, and every room reflected the season. She took great joy in selecting and wrapping gifts. Her gift-giving and craft abilities came together as she made and gave hundreds of grapevine wreaths as gifts, and her “Gramma Jamma” (homemade jam) was loved by many. A gifted home designer, she designed two houses that Art built (and designed many for others as well). Better yet, each house she lived in, she made it a home. She loved trees and specifically planned the location of her home to be situated within the edge of a woods (she mourned when large trees hanging over the house had to be removed), yet at the same time she had an ongoing “war” with any sticks that would fall in her yard. There is more that could be said. Much more. She was a Proverbs 31 woman. Throughout her life, God used her strong faith, belief in the power of prayer and her gifts of hospitality to bless many. At her request cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at Jackson Free Methodist Church on Saturday, October 9 beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Josh Turner officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation at Jackson Free Methodist Church on Friday, October 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 9 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Jackson Free Methodist Church, 2829 Park Dr, Jackson, MI 49203, or Somerset Beach Campground, 9822 Brooklawn Ct, Somerset Center, MI 49282.
