South Bend - Thomas Policinski, Sr., 74, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. Tom was born November 10, 1946 in South Bend, to the late Henry and Wanda (Gonsorek) Policinski. Left to cherish the memory of Tom is his loving wife, Helene Policinski; children, Tommy Policinski, Jr., Andrew (Anna) Hartman, Joy Hartman; grandson, Sam Hartman; brothers, Henry J. (Marian) Policinski, Mark (Patty) Policinski; nieces, Meredith, Alicia, Erin, Ann; and nephew, Adam. Tom enjoyed traveling the country and showing his children the historical sites, battle fields, museums, and monuments all over the country. He had a passion about the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln. Tom admired Albert Einstein and the study of Physics, Astronomy, and History. He was a proud "Triple Domer"; beginning in high school at Holy Cross High School Seminary, then attaining his undergraduate degree from the University ('68), before earning his juris doctor from ND Law ('72). During his undergraduate years he served as the Commander of his Air Force ROTC squadron. Upon graduating law school, Tom served his county as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) in the United States Air Force, holding the rank of Captain. He was a volunteer Judge at Notre Dame's Moot Court and also assistant coach for St. Joseph's High School's Mock Trial program. Tom was a passionate Notre Dame fan, especially in football and was a "Living Room Coach”. Tom was a private practice attorney in Family Law, at his firm in Cassopolis, Michigan and was proud to consider himself a constitutional attorney. During his legal career, he even served as president of the Michigan Bar Association for a time. Tom was also known for his cooking, especially his famous Prime Rib. As a part of his passion for paleontology, Tom owned a fossil shop - Eclectic Fossils, even selling some pieces he unearthed himself. Above all was his faith, praying the Rosary, and his family, which he enjoyed spending time with, especially his children, loving wife and grandchild. A visitation for Tom will take place 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Monday, September 20, 2021 with a Rosary to be prayer at 3:30 pm in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 in St. Joseph Catholic Church (SB) with a one-hour visitation prior to the mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to “Wounded Warriors”, 4899 Belfort Rd., Jacksonville, FL. 32256 or "Tunnels to Towers" 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
