The family of Chris Alan May Sr., age 63, announce that he passed away peacefully, at his home, September 15, 2021. He was born in Montpelier, July 5, 1958 to Oliver May and Sandra (Gorton) Steady. Chris married Irene G. Socha, July 15, 1978. Chris was a builder for most of his life, owning his own construction company. Chris enjoyed hunting in Vermont, New York and Pennsylvania, and fishing. He is survived by his wife Irene; three children, Chris May II (Kristin) of Bolton, VT, David May (Rebecca) of West Bolton, VT, Brandy Provost (Greg) of Huntington, VT, and a special nephew Caleb Gross of Richmond, VT; six grandchildren, Hanna, Halley, Krystal, Kendra, Caycee, and Kodie; and fourteen siblings, Michael May (Cathy) of CT, Shawn May (Josh Fosgate) of Lincoln, VT, Tom May (Marsha) of West Bolton, VT, Lisa May of Richmond, VT, Julie May of Eden, VT; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don Johnson, Stan Socha (Julie), Lois Fontaine (Jeff), Donna Remick (Todd), Valerie Johnson, Tammy Leveillee, Mary Streeter (Dickie), Wendy Streeter (John), and Samantha Theriaque (George). Chris also leaves his mother Sandra Steady (Larry) of Richmond. Chris was preceded in death by his father Oliver Ernest May. A Remembrance Gathering and Life Celebration will be held on October 2, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at the Broad Acres Bingo Hall in Colchester. As an alternative to flowers, memorials may be made in his name to The ALS Association Northern New England Chapter.
