VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Saturday, September 18, 2021, for Gustave “Gus” B. Fontenot. Jr., 72, who passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. 

Deacon Dwayne Joubert will conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in Ferguson Cemetery.

Gustave “Gus” B. Fontenot, Jr. was born on February 19, 1949, in Ville Platte to Gustave B. Fontenot, Sr. and Mary Lois Franques.  He proudly served his country in the US National Guard.  Gus worked for Cintas, he was a Hot Shot driver for Statewide Transport and AMP in Central.  He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.  He will be missed by all that knew him. 

He is survived by his son, David Fontenot of Opelousas; daughter, Julie Fontenot Davis and husband, Terry of Guthrie, OK; and sister, Kay Hargroder and husband, Didier of Opelousas.

He is preceded in death by his biological parents, Gustave B. Fontenot, Sr. and Mary Lois Franques, adopted parents, Urel and Jacqueline Dupre Fontenot; nephew, Jake Deville; and niece, Aimee Smith. 

At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte from 9:00 AM until time of service.  A rosary will be recited on Saturday at 1:30 PM.
