Hilda Veal Walls Dublin, Georgia Obituary

Hilda Veal Walls

Hilda Veal Walls went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 13, 2021, from complications after suffering a stroke. She was 83. Born on October 21, 1937 in Laurens County, Ga, she was the oldest of the four children of Guy Veal and Thelma Veal Sawyer. Ms. Walls completed high school in 1955 at Lowrey High School in Laurens County and retired from Parker Hannifin in Dublin, Georgia. In 1960, Hilda left Laurens County and moved to Longwood Florida with her then husband Wayne Joiner to raise her four children. She resided there for 25 years, first working as a telephone operator at Southern Bell in Orlando, and later for Emerson Electric before returning home to Laurens County where she lived out her remaining years. In addition to being a brave breast cancer survivor, and an amazing southern cook and baker, she was a loving and selfless Christian woman; always willing to help her friends and family in sickness or in need. She never missed sending a birthday card, even if it meant driving 20 miles for a stamp. Her passion for all of God’s living creatures was so strong, she would never turn her back on an animal in need. A loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, she was predeceased by her parents Thelma Sawyer Veal and Guy Veal, and brothers, Hodges Veal (w. Flossie), and Thomas Veal. Survivors include her beloved sister Bobbie Jo Davis; four children, Robert Joiner, Conni Killingsworth (h. Buck), Alan Joiner (w. Jenny), and Cherie Doughtie (h. Britt); Grandchildren, Blake Waddoups, Shannon Pahel Morgan, Ashley Lewis, Kyle Joiner, Kody Joiner, Matthew Hannan, Julia Doughtie, and Maia Doughtie; great grandchildren, Hayden Killingsworth, Sheyenne Davis, and Allie Noecker (h. James). A Memorial Service for Ms. Walls will be held at 11AM on October 16, 2021 at Bethesda Baptist Church 1793 Scotland Rd, Dublin, GA. Floral arrangements may be delivered to the church. “Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality." Emily Dickinson
