Berniece Slupe, 88 year old resident of Brainerd, MN passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd, MN. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Halvorson-Taylor Life Events Center in Brainerd, MN with Rev. Luke Nelson officiating. Burial will take place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN. A visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the Halvorson-Taylor Life Events Center in Brainerd, MN. Caring for Berniece and her family is the Halvorson-Taylor Funeral Home in Brainerd, MN. The family of Berniece requests that all visitors and attendees of the funeral wear a mask and practice social distancing. Berniece was born on July 21, 1933, in Scotland, South Dakota to the late Richard and Magdalena (Zeeb) Bohlmann. She grew up on the family farm and attended Country School near Lesterville, SD. Berniece was united in marriage to LeRoy Slupe on June 24, 1955, in Martinus Lutheran Church in Utica, SD. The couple resided in Brookings, SD while LeRoy completed his degree at SDSU and later moved to Windom, MN for 28 years while he was employed at Kimberly-Clark. They later transferred to Grand Forks, ND until 1989 when they retired and became full-time residents on Round Lake in the Brainerd Lakes area. Berniece was an avid reader and was also a very active member of the churches she attended. She lived to volunteer and took great joy in the many volunteering organizations she was a part of, especially the Brainerd Senior Center and Park Methodist Church in Brainerd, MN. Berniece was a unique and special lady to many families and friends. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Berniece is survived by children, Pam (Tom) Jacobson of Lino Lakes, MN, Mark Slupe of Brainerd, MN, Susan Slupe of Bemidji, MN and Cynthia (Dave) Hullett of Becker, MN; siblings, Lucille Musil of Mission Hill, SD and Janice (Steve) Cahoy of Tabor, SD; grandchildren, Amanda Jacobson of St. Paul, MN, Christopher (fiancé Jessica) Jacobson of Mapelton, ND and Eden (Dustin) Martin of Grand Junction, CO; great-grandchildren, Jadyn Jacobson and Lincoln Martin; sisters-in-law, Janice Klein, Gloria Bohlmann, Donna Bohlmann, Delores Bohlmann and Marcene Bohlmann; and brother-in-law, Louie Ruman. She was preceded in death by husband, LeRoy Slupe; brothers, Elmer Bohlmann, Rudy Bohlmann, Leslie Bohlmann, Leo Bohlmann, Bobby Bohlmann, Melvin Bohlmann, Danny Bohlmann and sister, Mildred Ruman.
