Brother Richard (Lynn) Huber, C.S.C.

Brother Richard (Lynn) Huber, C.S.C., age 92, died on September 14, 2021 at Columba Hall, on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. He was born in Marion, OH on July 13, 1929, the son of Edward and Mary (Lynn) Huber. He attended St. Mary’s Elementary and High School in Marion. He followed a calling to the religious life and in September, 1947, he went to Sacred Heart Juniorate, Watertown, WI as a postulant for the Brothers of Holy Cross. He then entered St. Joseph’s Novitiate, Rolling Prairie, IN where after a year of training, he pronounced his first vows as a Holy Cross Brother on February 2, 1949. For the next two years he served on the staff, working on Silver Lake Farm of St. Joseph’s Novitiate there in Rolling Prairie. In 1951, he was assigned to work at St. Joseph Farm in Granger, IN and for next 43 years, he worked either at St. Joseph Farm or Silver Lake Farm. In 1993, he suffered a near fatal accident that forced him to permanently retire from farming. From 1995 until his death, he resided at Columba Hall on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph Chapel on the grounds of Holy Cross Village at Notre Dame. The Mass of Resurrection will follow at 11:00 with interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery of the Village. Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
