Americo Jose Pereira

Americo Jose Pereira, 63, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Overlook Medical Center, Summit, NJ. He was born in Lamas de Mouro, Melgaco, Portugal and came to the United States in 1994, resided in Washington, NJ, and the Ironbound Section of Newark, before settling in Elizabeth 22 years ago. Americo was a Machine Operator and member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, IUOE Local 825 of Springfield, NJ for many years. He worked for Metra Industry of Little Falls, NJ for 20 years before joining MSP Construction of Newark. Americo loved music and was proud of his band, Duo Primavera playing his accordion or the piano keyboard. Devoted son of Puresa De Jesus Pereira and the late Manuel Jose Pereira; beloved husband of 41 years of Blandina “Dina” De Jesus Pereira; devoted and loving father of Sonia Silva and her husband Dario, and Monica Martins and her husband Emanuel; dear brother of Celeste Pereira and her husband Abel, and Ivone Pereira of Spain; cherished grandfather of Brianna, Tiffany and Justino Silva, and Juliana and Rafael Martins; also survived by many dear relatives and friends. The Funeral Mass for Americo will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Elizabeth, NJ. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 5pm - 8pm at Buyus Funeral Home 426 Lafayette St., at Wilson Ave., Newark, NJ 07105.
