Deborah “Debra” Robichaux-Handy age 68 transitioned peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday August 20,2021. Debra as she was passionately called was born on April 25, 1953 in New Orleans,Louisiana to the union of the late Ivory and Helen Nelson-Robichaux.Deborah was a life long resident of the 6th ward and the Treme neighborhood. She attended Joseph A. Craig Elementary,McDonough #41 Jr. High School and graduated from Joseph S. Clark Sr. High. She was employed by TCA for over 33 years until her retirement. Deborah was a everyday 6th ward girl. Deborah leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Freddie “Penny” Handy; son, Dorian O. Handy; daughter, DeVonna O. Handy; grandchildren, Kamren and Kennedy Handy; stepchildren, Ronald, Freddie Jr. and Ida Handy; step grandchildren, Ariana, Michael,Thomas,Samantha, and Lynell Handy; brothers, Ivory (Lydia),Christopher (Pamela) Robichaux; sisters, Cheryl Austin and Japerlet “Jackie” Robichaux; brother, and sisters-in law, Joann Crenshaw, Tiny Smith, Kneother Anthony-Gibson, Ronald,Henry, Mary,Earline and Shirlene Handy; Godchildren, Jannell Washington and Tyrone Handy; life long friends, Linda Molliere and Elleva Butter. Mrs. Handy was preceded in death by her sisters Flora MAC Wilson and Bernice Carter Hall; brothers, Freddie Allen,Reginald Russell and Jerry Robichaux; best friends Patricia Banks, Shelbra Woods and Beatrice Martin.Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of the late Deborah Robichaux-Handy will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, 411 N. Rampart St. New Orleans, Louisiana, 70112 on Saturday, September 18, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Visitation at 9:00 AM. Interment Resthaven Memorial Park
