Edgar "Ed" Allen Kelly Obituary

Edgar "Ed" Allen Kelly, 83, of Crestline, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at his home.

Ed was born in Mansfield, OH on September 17, 1937, to the late Hobart and Dora (Lee) Kelly. He married Betty (Eberle) Kelly on April 11, 1994, and she survives him in Crestline.

Ed graduated from Lexington High School. He then proudly served in the United States Navy for six years, from 1955 to 1961. His tour of duty took him to Barber's Point, Hawaii where he worked as a mail carrier. He then worked as an airplane mechanic aboard the U.S.S. Lexington. Upon his return from the navy, Ed was employed by General Motors for thirty-four years as a tow motor operator. He was member of the First United Methodist Church in Crestline, American Legion Scarborough Post 243, in Galion, and the VFW Post 2920 in Crestline. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, tinkering with cars, woodworking and traveling.

In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by his three children; Christina Lindsay, Lakeland, FL; Jeffrey (Kristi) Kelly, Windsor, WI; David Kelly, Ashland, MS; his three stepchildren; Gregory (Chris) Peoples, Galion; Stephanie (Ryan) Bowman, Galion; Phil (Sandra Stephens) Turner, Galion; eleven grandchild and fifteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his five brothers, Ronald Kelly, James Kelly, Randy Kelly, Joseph Kelly, and Larry Kelly.

Friends may call on Monday, September 20, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline, OH 44827. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 10:00 AM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home in Crestline, with Dr. Rick McCartney officiating. Burial will follow in Ontario Community Cemetery, where military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Navy and the Crestline-Galion Veteran's Military Funeral Detail.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors or American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
