Boyd M. Hatfield, 71, of Quincy, IL, passed away at 7:28 pm Monday, September 13, 2021 at his home. A Funeral Ceremony will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. Rev. Steve Disseler will officiate. Burial with full military honors by American Legion Post #37 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail will follow at Quincy Memorial Park in Quincy, IL. Friends and Family are invited to Boyd's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Monday, September 20, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. Boyd was born January 5, 1950, in Kirksville, MO to Boyd H. and Geraldine (Anderson) Hatfield. He was married to Cynthia "Cindy" S. Clifford on May 3, 2014 in Quincy, IL. They began dating in 1989 and were happily together for 32 years. She survives. In addition to his loving wife, other survivors include four children, Walter Houghton (Regina) of TX, Royda Houghton of La Belle, MO, Robin Minor (Derrick) of Lewistown, MO, and Boyd Lee Hatfield of FL; 13 grandchildren, Chad Ray (Jane) of Quincy, IL, Neil Houghton (Sarah) of Springfield, IL, Kristin Bradshaw of Quincy, IL, Amanda Fields (Curtis) of Lewistown, MO, Sam Winters (Zac) of Quincy, IL, Ashley Houghton (Joe) of Springfield, IL, Amber Clifford (Anthony) of Quincy, IL, Wesley Houghton of TX, Dylan Emery (Kimberly) of OK, Destiny Houghton (Garion) of Mendon, IL, Jazzlyn "Moe Moe" Franke (Brent) of Knox City, MO, Dalton Smith Minor of Lewistown, MO, and Gena Marie of Ewing, MO; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian Graham (Rayburn) of Kirksville, MO and Teresa Davis (Gregory) of Kirksville, MO; and several nieces and nephews. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Karrolyn Funk and Twilla Yvonne Hatfield; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Clifford; and his fur baby, Susie. Boyd proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1969-1971 during the Vietnam War. Boyd graduated from Knox County High School in 1968. He went on to be employed by Quincy Compressor, where he was a machine operator for 47 years. Boyd was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting turkey and deer on his property in Knox County, and trap shooting. He was a member of the West Quincy Gun Club where he won many awards in trap shooting. When Boyd wasn't enjoying the outdoors, you could find him at The Coach House giving the staff a hard time, teaching country line dance lessons, or shooting league pool, for which he also won multiple awards. Boyd enjoyed watching Yellowstone, Westerns, and Cardinals baseball with his mother-in-law. He also had a soft spot in his heart for cats and sweet treats, such as blueberry muffins and fudge brownies. Boyd will be missed for his good humor, his passion for the outdoors, and the love he had for his family. Boyd attended The Crossing in Quincy. Memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o Cindy Hatfield to help with funeral expenses or St. Louis Barnes Children's Hospital. Pallbearers will be Derrick Minor, Neil Houghton, Brent Franke, Curtis Fields, Zac Winters, Dalton Smith Minor, Dan Grubbs, and Stevie Myers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jazzlyn Franke, Tessa Rost, Rocky Rost, Zachary Hildenbrand, and Xavier Hildenbrand.
